December 5th, 2022 Update:

Our 3rd annual employee engagement program Workplace Green Up has come to an end and it was a great success! This year’s winners are:

• 1st place: Convertus with 8,200 points
• 2nd place: GreenTech Painting with 5,700 points
• 3rd place: McCabe Promotional with 5,200 points

A huge thank you to all of our members who participated and congratulations to the winners. We look forward to doing it again next year!

We’re excited to share that Workplace Green Up is back for the third year in a row! This year Workplace Green Up will take place during the month of November. This engagement program aims to support sustainability in the work culture of Green Economy London members. The program offers sustainability activities focusing on different target areas that employees can incorporate into their daily work habits.  

Members can earn points over the four weeks by completing sustainability activities to reduce employee’s environmental impact focusing on our four target areas: waste reduction and diversion, water conservation, environmental stewardship, and GHG emissions reduction. Some of the activities this year include participating in an outdoor clean up, attending our waste webinar, eating a meatless meal, and checking for leaks in water faucets. 

Participating employees can submit their activities and projects through social media using the hashtag #WorkplaceGreenUp2022. 

Schedule:

Week 1: Environmental Stewardship: Nov 1st – 6th 

Week 2: Waste Reduction: Nov 7th – 13th

Week 3: GHG Emissions Reduction: Nov 14th – 20th

Week 4: Water Conservation: Nov 21st – 27th

Rules:

Employees earn points for activities by posting a photo of the activity on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn and tagging Green Economy London using the hashtag #WorkplaceGreenUp2022. We encourage all employees to participate, however, a minimum of two employees from each organization need to post their activities to earn points. Please email Allison at allison@londonevironment.net to indicate that employees from your organization are participating. 

Prizes:

• 1st Place: $500 in gift cards to a GEL member of choice, a half page ad in Business London, and a physical award to display at your workplace
• 2nd  Place: $200 in gift cards to a GEL member of choice, a half page ad in Business London, and a physical award to display at your workplace
• 3rd Place: $100 in gift cards to a GEL member of choice, a half page ad in Business London, and a physical award to display at your workplace

Green Economy London is a sustainable business program of the London Environmental Network. The program supports businesses in setting and achieving sustainability targets for GHG emissions reduction, waste reduction and diversion, water consumption, and environmental stewardship. Through collaboration, celebration and recognition, one on one support, workshops and resources, they are empowering businesses to demonstrate a sustainable economy is possible. Workplace Green Up is a great way for Green Economy London members to have a fun and valuable environmental experience.
