This inspiring event will bring together local businesses, colleagues, friends, family and community members for a night of networking, exciting raffle prizes and light bites and beverages, all in celebration of the outstanding sustainability initiatives.

We are excited to unveil our 2025 Award Categories! Explore the ways we are recognizing sustainability leaders this year, from innovative ideas to impactful projects, and take a look at past recipients.

Green Economy Leader Awards 

Green Innovation Award

This award recognizes a member who embraces innovation to prioritize sustainability initiatives to improve and meet their sustainability goals. 

The previous winner of this award was Heeman’s who used power generated from their solar panels to install three Level 2 EV charging stations, capable of charging six electric vehicles. 

Rookie of the Year

The Rookie of the Year award recognizes the most active and accomplished new member of Green Economy London since January 2024. 

The previous winner of this award was Junction Climbing, who joined Green Economy London in 2023. They received Green Project Support to complete an emissions reduction project and have implemented sustainability initiatives such as installing a solar system at their facility and providing bike racks to encourage active transportation for employees and visitors. 

Environmental Steward of the Year

This award recognizes a member’s involvement, participation, and leadership in projects and actions that positively impact the community and ecosystems of London and surrounding areas. 

The previous winner of this award was MTE Consultants, which achieved the Platinum Environmental Steward target in 2023 by completing 10 sustainability projects. These included implementing an in-office composting system, establishing a Green Team, conducting carbon cleanses, and more!

Circularity Award

This award recognizes a member who has implemented projects that reduce and/or divert waste at their organization. 

The previous winner of this award was Play Away Indoor Park, which installed a refillable water bottle station to reduce single-use plastic waste for guests and staff. They also upgraded their kitchen with a commercial dishwasher, allowing them to switch to reusable kitchenware and eliminate disposable dishes.

Green Project Implementation

This award recognizes a member who has received and implemented Green Project Support at their facility with projects that are inspirational, educational, effective, or all of the above, in reducing the environmental impacts of their organization. 

The previous winner of this award was BlueStone Properties, which prioritized energy conservation and efficiency by implementing projects to reduce electricity and natural gas consumption, optimize operations, and integrate advanced energy-saving technologies across their properties.

Environmental Network Awards

Outstanding Member Award

This award recognizes a London Environmental Network member who has made a significant impact on the local environment. Their contributions may include developing innovative local solutions, advancing sustainability through technology or program delivery, or using creative thinking to adapt to the evolving needs of the community.

The previous winner of this award was The PATCH. 

Community Impact

This award goes to an organization or community group that implemented a project that benefited the environment and community within the past year through the Environmental Action Incubator program. 

The previous winner of this award was LOLA Bees.

Community Choice

This award recognizes an individual who demonstrates outstanding environmental leadership and a commitment to sustainability in their personal lives. They may have started an initiative to raise awareness and take environmental action in their workplace or elsewhere in the community. 

Last year, with over 1,500 votes from the community, Michelle Stranges was the winner of the Community Choice Award in 2024.
