EV Charger Incentive Program: Get up to $100,000 to Install EV Charging Infrastructure
Wednesday, Feb 16, 2022

Green Economy London is thrilled to share a new program for our members! Green Economy Canada has just launched a $3.9M incentive program, funded by Natural Resources Canada. The EV Charger Incentive Program will reimburse up to 50% of the cost of installing EV charging infrastructure (up to $100,000).

If you and your organization have wanted to install EV chargers this is the perfect opportunity! Funding is available for installations in public places, on-street, multi-unit residential buildings, workplaces, and light-duty vehicle fleets.

Installing EV chargers offers a number of benefits

Generate revenue – Charging stations can increase your property value and allow you to generate money through service fees. They can also encourage customers to visit your location and stay longer to purchase goods and services while waiting for their vehicle to charge.

Raise your public profile – EV chargers provide a visible symbol of your interest and commitment to sustainability. They also put you on the map (literally) when people search for EV charging locations.

Reduce carbon emissions – 25% of Canada’s GHG emissions come from transportation. EV chargers help reduce those emissions by supporting EV adoption among your customers, your employees, and your own fleet.

Get ahead of the curve – The federal government has mandated that all light-duty vehicles sold in Canada will be zero-emission vehicles by 2035. Installing charging stations will prepare your business or organization for the future and position it to reap the benefits from a growing public demand for EV charging locations.

Accelerate Canada’s low-carbon transition – One of the barriers to the widespread adoption of EVs is the lack of access to charging stations. By installing an EV charger, you’ll help accelerate action on climate change by making EV adoption more accessible.

The Details

The EV Charger Incentive funding is available between February 4th, 2022 and March 31, 2024, and applicants can receive up to $100,000 per project. The first 45 days of the program will focus on reviewing applications from organizations that self-identify as being majority-led or owned by individuals belonging to an Underrepresented Group, or organizations that primarily serve populations who would be considered an Underrepresented Group. These groups include but are not limited to, those that self-identify as women, 2SLGBTQ+, Indigenous peoples, racialized peoples, youth (under 30 years old), and persons with disabilities.
