Founding Member Profile: German Canadian Club
The German Canadian Club was established in 1933, providing a meeting place for German immigrants who wished to practice and enjoy the customs and traditions of their homeland. Over time it grew into a cultural centre for immigrants from Germanic countries and a multitude of people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, interested in the rich cultural heritage brought to these shores by German, Austrian and Swiss immigrants.
The club activities are appealing to a diverse cross-section of the London and area population of all age groups. German Gemütlichkeit, language and song, as well as sports are part of the customs and culture practiced and preserved at the German-Canadian Club London. The beautifully located club places its facilities not only at the disposal of its members, but also the community.
The German Canadian Club is keen to reduce its environmental impact and save on energy costs through a variety of sustainability projects. Stay tuned to see what improvements they’ll make on their facilities!
